‘‘Soft drink industries in Tehuacán’’
‘‘Riego’’
Few cities in our country have transcended so healthily as Tehuacán,
Puebla. Located near the foothills of the Pico de Orizaba and who naturally
receives runoff from glaciers in the mountain in his basement. And means that
even today in many places talk about a Tehuacán, a carbonated mineral water, came
to be, what the marketers call a generic. The name by which is universally
known a product, regardless of the manufacturer. And I say healthy because
since it began its commercialization, early 20th century to the mineral water
Tehuacán always curative properties are ascribed to him, but let's go by the
principle.
He ran the year of 1903 when the Lords Anacarsis Peralta and Joaquín
Pita began bottling of a brand of mineral water called "Red Cross"
Noting that had healing properties and was very well accepted by the people.
These features encouraged young entrepreneur poblano Miguel Mantilla who
already devoted to the bottling of soft drinks along with his family to sell
some property in their native Puebla and try their luck in Tehuacán. With an
initial investment of $25 thousand pesos Miguel Mantilla began operations in
the year of 1905 at the "El irrigation" spring in addition to mineral
water bottling soft drinks that his family also commercialized in Puebla.
The maker of don
Miguel Mantilla had several avant-garde features, one of them was to be the few
factories in the country moved by force of gas motor (internal combustion),
another was that it was the first to bottle mineral water quinada. The bottling
plant watering had its heyday when a retired Colonel think buy what was once a
Hotel and in its grounds there is a spring that is at the foot of the Hill,
that spring more or less to 5 meters under the ground, and to get up to the at
the time made a down aisle and made him a space to beformerly there was a cave,
where could one take mud and spread it on the face, because it took away
infections have much ore, I now believe that this left the place since I
believe that there is a dispute, with the municipality, hopefully could rescue
it, since in that area there was a road that resembled the entrance of a
Palace, because had on the side, planted Palm trees of dates and when I was
small, I was going with my dad, who worked at the company... is watering area
was made the film of Valentin Trujillo EL VALIENTE VIVE version, until he
COWARDLY wills, and there himself in the hills that are the walk between the
irrigation and San Lorenzo are Televisa Y Tv Aztec Repeater antennas.
‘‘San Lorenzo and Garci Crespo’’
Factory
was founded "San Lorenzo Mineral Waters Company" American owned Leo
Fleishman (who later would bottler of Coca Cola in Tampico), which is seated in
the spring of the same name "San Lorenzo" located to the north-east
city.
It
is curious advertising for mineral waters at the time, was read verbatim:
"infallibly cure stomach diseases, urine, kidney and spleen." Water
Quinada could read: "The only refreshing tonic." Other brands of soda
that were commercialized Mr. Mantilla Red Star, Green Star and Red Eagle.
It
was not until after the Mexican Revolution, when it was thought to invest again
at Tehuacan. Knowing the virtues and fame of the mineral waters, Mr. José María
Garci Crespo de la Vega and Carlos Silva in June 1928 founded the company
"Springs of Tehuacan SA" Its objective was mineral water bottle and
distribute throughout the center of the country.
In
1937 the company changed its name to "Garci Crespo Springs SA de CV and
two years later opened the first dealership in the Valley of Mexico.
For
its part, the Garci Crespo and San Lorenzo at the beginning of the 90´s brands
are acquired by Mexican business group (GEMEX) property of the Yucatecan Enrique
Molina Sobrino, for those years prospero bottler of Pepsi, with plants in
Mexico City, Acapulco, Celaya and Campeche, which gives it an injection of
capital to the brand and modernized it, at the same time polishing their
distribution at the national level and the "mating" in your universe
of customers Pepsiso for the first time Garci Crespo has even commercial TV
nationwide, that if caring for the appellation of origin policy and
guaranteeing that all the Garci Crespo mineral water is bottled in Tehuacán,
which is source of pride for the tehuacaneros.
‘‘Peñafiel’’
Began in
the city of Tehuacan, Puebla, universally known as City Health. This water
comes from the melting of the Pico de Orizaba ("Citaltépetl"), which
over many kilometers underground, is enriched with mineral salts (carbonates,

With this process, Peñafiel Springs adopts the name of Cadbury Schweppes Beverages Mexico.
The continued growth of the group was based on fixed asset investment, key acquisitions and partnerships with other companies, which has served to develop strategies thereof.
